o p e n e n d e d is a series of exchange exhibitions initiated by Manchester based artist Maeve Rendle, taking place in the first phase between Manchester, Bristol and London.

The first exchange show saw five artists living and working in Bristol invited to exhibit in Manchester on May 16^th at Rogue Projects Space. Over the course of their stay the Bristol based artists visited and selected artists from Manchester to exhibit in Bristol in August.

The second exchange will be between Manchester and London. The invited artists will visit and select Manchester based artists to exhibit in their home city. These exchange shows will then culminate in collaboration between all three cities. An emerging writer based in the hosting city will be commissioned to produce a short essay on each exhibition.

The project of exchanges will continue to evolve and reach further as the network of artists involved grows. Glasgow, Dublin and Berlin are future sites for exchange.

As there is no fixed venue for each exhibition, this website will provide the forum for recording and expanding the project.

o p e n e n d e d aims to provide participating artists with the opportunity of forging an ongoing dialogue with artists, writers and curators in the UK and abroad.
